Aquaculture History
Aquaculture has a long history dating back to ancient civilizations such as the Chinese, Egyptians, and Romans, who raised fish and shellfish in ponds and artificial lakes. In the modern era, aquaculture has grown into a significant industry, providing an increasing share of the world's seafood production.
One of the early pioneers of modern aquaculture was Norwegian biologist Thor Heyerdahl, who established the first salmon farms in Norway in the 1960s. Since then, aquaculture has continued to evolve with the development of new technologies and production methods, leading to the wide range of aquaculture products available today.
